Rains in kerala
Getting soaked inevitable
Change of clothing necessary
Reach school wet through and through
A little uncomfortable for sure
But soon forgotten
Mom would run after you with a towel
Evening, you walk home
Umbrella, as usual, inadequate
Once again wet through and through
Peel away the clothes
Land them in a heap at home
a change of clothes and out you went
To play in the rain and water collected
splashing and jumping – brown with mud
once again wet through and through
Rains come in torrents
A blessing from the western ghats
Animals wash down, maybe a python – beware!
college reached in bus, find a dry spot , really ?
soaked umbrellas and stinky humans
once again wet through and through
the rains in Kerala - torrential, they say
Curtain of water - waterfall , it seems
To be reckoned with, a wonder!
You forget the noise as it arrives
You forget the dampness that lingers
Mother nature, a daily reminder.
